✿ MOLL AND LORA ✿

Moll and Lora are a special twin character that can be obtained in the Mothra Tamagotchi released in 1997. It's a tie-in toy with the movie Rebirth of Mothra II released the same month.

The problem is that nobody ever found out how to get them, 25+ years later.

And as a fan of Tamagotchi and Mothra, I Wanna give it a shot!!

If you're interested in working together as a team to solve this, you can reach me at shadokcontact@yahoo.com

Are they even real?

That's a good question to ask. One thing about Tamagotchis is that there's no way to datamine them to check on Moll and Lora's existence. We do have video evidence of them though, even if it was obtained through messing with the batteries.

Another strong evidence for their existence is their mention is on the official growth chart on the now defunct Tamagotch Channel Page.

Growth chart i made based on the information on the tamagotchi fandom wiki and my own research

Any lead?

It's kinda hard to guess how these character could be obtained as something to take care of, because they already serve a purpose on the device. It's to sing to awaken the egg or to heal the creature if it's sick. Sounds like just taking perfect care of Mothra Leo isn't the solution or people would already have gotten Moll & Lora... Fairy also is strongly associated with the twins since they're always riding her to get around, but it'd be surprising for Fairy to have 2 special evolutions and Mothra Leo & Battra none.

One curious sentence on the Tamagotch Channel Page roughly translate to "If a character from the 4rth stage [referring to the adult stage] or later has passed the average life span and is dying, he or she will use his or her last strength to lay an egg. If they die of illness, they do not lay eggs. To produce a super hidden character, raise these eggs carefully."

There are a total of 3 secret characters on the device. Other than Moll & Lora, there's Godzilla and Ghogo. These two are obtained through special care conditions after obtaining a certain adult creature as you can see on the growth chart. Since Godzilla and Ghogo don't require a creature laying an egg upon death to be obtained, i think it's safe to assume sentence is refering to obtaining Moll & Lora.

How do you get your creature to lay an egg?

I assumed that like previous Tamagotchis, the creature would lay an egg from taking good/perfect care through it's whole adult life. According to a breakthrough by Wolf Nanaki, you gotta take good care of your adult creature and then on day 8: "stop filling it's hunger and happy meters"

I've been testing things out with this method and it does work by letting the adult die 7 days after it hatched from the cocoon. The 2 special characters Ghogo and Godzilla have laid egg at age 16 but more attemps should be tested to really confirm this.

What Now?

If all that leads to no results, it'll be time to try different evolution requirements. It'll be a good ressource to look into how secret characters are obtained in other vintage tamagotchis for ideas.

Result: Mothra Leo seems to not die as long as it's taken care of. After deciding to let it die, i've messed with the clock to advance its age to 99 to see if something would happen (nothing). This might have also caused Mothra Leo to never die from neglect because she was still alive after 4 hours of beeping every 2/3 minutes.

Device: White and Blue
Mothra Leo / 13 days old / Gen1

💀 Random Device Reset
(because the super old batteries inside were leaking and moldy lol)
